GE Renewable Energy selected as supplier for U.S. offshore wind farms

Sept. 25, 2019 – Ørsted, an offshore wind developer, has chosen GE Renewable Energy as its preferred turbine supplier for two of its U.S. offshore wind farms. This marks the first commercial use of GE’s Haliade-X 12 MW offshore wind turbine.

Subject to a final signed contract and required project approvals, the turbines will be deployed to Skipjack (120 MW) off the coast of Maryland and Ocean Wind (1,100 MW) off the coast of New Jersey, expected to be commissioned in 2022 and 2024, respectively.

Seven U.S. states on the east coast have committed to building a total of 20 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2035.
